Gavin Ottley

Managing Director

Gavin Ottley is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and multi-lingual global business executive with a 19-year career spanning cross-border finance,international trade, and economic development and country promotion in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. Mr. Ottley is a highly disciplined, self-motivated professional with a reputation for consistently creating value and executing strategy. He strives for service excellence, constantly seeking to anticipate client needs and deliver beyond expectations.A creative and innovative thinker, Mr. Ottley thrives on novel projects, adapts well to different environments and offers a fresh perspective on international business challenges. Experienced in both the public and private sectors, he has an ability to build sustainable partnerships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to produce successful outcomes.

Gavin began his career with the Tourism and Industrial Development Company (TIDCO), the economic development agency of Trinidad and Tobago, where he gradually assumed roles of increasing responsibility in the international trade division, rising to managerial level and spearheading the company’s activities in export markets. He was later recruited by Republic Bank Limited, the largest locally-owned commercial financial institution in the Caribbean, to manage the bank’s international trade finance portfolio in Latin America. There, he developed his marketing, negotiation and risk management skills and further enhanced his network in the region.

Gavin pioneered Republic’s work in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, and Panama, and was appointed as the bank’s representative in a joint Latin American initiative with alliance partner BroadSpan Capital, an investment banking boutique in Miami. He also managed a $60M credit portfolio at the bank’s Cuban subsidiary in Havana. In addition, he successfully:

  • Developed the Republic Bank Latin America Fund, a $100M debt fund earning $6M annually
  • Generated $41M in new business over 6 years for exporters in Trinidad and Tobago
  • Coordinated trade delegations for the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago’s visits to Panama and Mexico and received commendation from TIDCO’s board for exemplary performance
  • Earned divisional award for strategic thinking and process improvement at Republic Bank
  • Authored “Caribbean/TT Trade 2002: An Analysis of Trade Flows Between Trinidad and Tobago and the Countries of the Caribbean Basin,” guiding Republic’s marketing efforts in the region

A continuous learner, Gavin possesses a range of international business qualifications. He earned his B.A. degree in Spanish and French and post-graduate diploma in International Relations, both with honors, from the University of the West Indies. He then obtained a certified diploma in accounting and finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), as well as a professional diploma in Corporate Governance and Administration from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK). He received his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management (Phoenix, AZ) and Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), graduating with distinction and attaining the Valedictorian Award for highest GPA (3.965) from a class of 162 students. He has also been invited by Thunderbird to provide presentations to graduating students on the importance of strategic networking to career advancement.

Beyond professional pursuits, Gavin is a strong advocate for humanitarian causes. He has also cared for the homeless in his native Trinidad and Tobago. A sports aficionado, he was high school cricket captain, is an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and Liverpool Football Club, and volunteers each year at the Sony Ericsson Tennis Tournament in Key Biscayne, Florida. Gavin is also a member of the Southern Cross Astronomical Society of Miami.

Kelly Prince

Independent Consultant

Kelly Prince is a U.S. citizen and senior international marketing executive with 18 years’ experience working extensively throughout the Caribbean and Central America. She is a consumer-packaged-goods brand expert whose strengths include strategic planning, customer relationship management and product and brand development. Kelly has a proven record in business reengineering, new product development and new market expansions. She is a creative, multi-dimensional leader who excels in team building and communication. She is flexible and adapts easily to new work environments, system processes and different cultures. Having lived and worked in Venezuela, Jamaica and Costa Rica while managing 32 countries in the Caribbean, Kelly understands the importance of individual market nuances and the complexity of virtual management.


Kelly began her marketing career with British American Tobacco (BAT) at the local subsidiary in Trinidad and Tobago. She started there as a management trainee in BAT’s prestigious “We challenge you program” and quickly rose through the ranks to Head of Brands for the Caribbean area, based at their regional head office in San Jose, Costa Rica.

As Head of Brands, Kelly was a part of the executive leadership and oversaw the marketing function of 32 countries in the Caribbean and Central America with an amalgamated profit margin of $2BN. She managed over 50 brands and an annual marketing budget of $5MN. She was responsible for the development of all strategic marketing plans for the business units, as well as the personal development and training of her direct reports.

The Head of Brands role oversaw the research function and ensured that it was aligned to the company’s marketing strategy. Kelly was instrumental in the amalgamation of the Caribbean team with the Central American team once the merger was complete. Her leadership and process reengineering ensured that the company lost neither volume nor profitability. Her strong negotiating and influencing skills were honed as chief liaison with the international marketing agencies Grey, BATES and Lonsdale Saatchi & Saatchi. Kelly has completed several projects for British American Tobacco, bp Trinidad and Guardian Holdings. She has a strong academic background that strengthens her extensive international experience. She earned a B.Sc. in International Relations from the University of the West Indies (Mona campus). Subsequent to completing her undergraduate degree, Kelly worked for two months at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and won a coveted Chevening Scholarship. This scholarship is offered by the British Council and facilitated her M.A. in International Relations at the University of Sussex. She graduated from both universities with honors.

Kelly has several international certifications and diplomas in training, international marketing, job evaluations and assessment centers (a recruitment tool). Beyond professional pursuits, she is an avid traveler, a school volunteer and volunteers for several hours each month to the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando, Florida.
